Is Black Widow's Hair CGI'd In The Avengers: Endgame Trailer?

When it comes to speculation and theorizing about a movie as massively anticipated as Avengers: Endgame, fans leave no stone unturned, picking up on the smallest details and from those extrapolating intriguing conclusions. While much of the discussion about the Avengers: Endgame trailer has been about Ant-Man and Ronin, one such sleuth was paying attention to Scarlett Johansson's hair. This person believes that Black Widow's hair is CGI'd in the trailer. Take a look.

Lacking the requisite expertise, it's difficult to say for sure, but Reddit user walkinmermaid might be on to something. In the first half of the image, Black Widow's hair does look kind of off. And if you watch the Avengers: Endgame trailer in motion, you can get a better idea of that. It's hard to pinpoint what it is but it does look somewhat unnatural (deepest apologies to ScarJo if I'm wrong).

I'm less convinced that the second half of the image is CGI'd. If anything her hair looks more like it could be a wig there. But, again, it's hard to say. Even if the Reddit user is right, what does it matter? Well, why would you CGI someone's hair unless you had a specific reason to do so?

Assuming that Scarlett Johansson wasn't just having a bad hair day that required digital assistance to fix, there are other possible explanations. The Reddit poster speculates that either those shots are not in the movie at all or they are being used to hide something, specifically a time jump.

Addressing the first hypothesis, we know that not everything that is in a trailer is always in the movie. Furthermore, Marvel has shown that it is not beyond putting things in the trailer to set expectations that will ultimately be subverted.

For example, that shot of the Avengers charging from the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer was not in the film. Hence this is definitely possible, but why her hair would need to be CGI'd for a red herring shot is less clear.

The other hypothesis, that Black Widow's hair has been CGI'd to hide the time jump, is very interesting. We have heard that Scarlett Johansson's character might be going back to her signature red hair in this film, along with a shorter haircut. In theory that's no big deal, after all, the trailers for Avengers: Infinity War didn't hide that some of the heroes (including Black Widow) had new looks, and we've seen that Cap trimmed his hair and shaved off his beard in the Endgame trailer.

Perhaps the thought was that people would buy that Cap just felt like a shave, which is a quick thing, but for Black Widow to have also changed her look in a drastic way might have given away too much about a potential time jump. (Rumored promo art recently leaked, showing Black Widow with long hair in a braid, for what that's worth.)

So they CGI'd her hair to make her look as we last saw her. That's the theory. Of course, if that's the case, why didn't Marvel get in on the facial hair CGI fun and give Cap a digital beard?

Many have long speculated that this film will have a time jump and leaks and rumors have supported that. Everything from hearing about Tony Stark and Pepper having a kid, to Scott Lang's daughter being older, has led us to believe that this film will jump ahead to long after Thanos' Decimation. However, the trailer does not support a time jump, or so we think.

These two shots with the suspect hair could both be set after the time jump, while some of the other stuff in the trailer is before. It would make sense too. If the snap just happened and Hawkeye is still on house arrest/just lost his family, it wouldn't make sense for him to be Ronin already.

Also, the tallying of the fallen after the Decimation would have taken a while. The Avengers might not have known for some time that Scott Lang was even missing. For his appearance at Avengers HQ to be the big deal it appears to be in the trailer, they have to have been all but certain that he was gone.

It's a lot to chew on, and it will be interesting to see once we get more trailers whether this CGI hair hypothesis is supported or not.

10 Marvel Actors You'll Probably Never See In An MCU Movie After Endgame

Avengers: Endgame is fast approaching, and while that's super exciting, it's also bittersweet. The MCU will change, and we're guessing a lot of actors we've grown accustomed to seeing over the past decade will no longer don their heroic roles for future films. In no particular order, here's a list of some of the actors we're guessing won't be around for Phase 4 and beyond

Robert Downey Jr.The actor, who helped kick off the MCU with Iron Man, will likely get a send-off of some kind in Avengers: Endgame, although we're not entirely sure what will happen. That said, Endgame will probably bring a permanent end to Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark considering his contract is up and he hasn't been cheap to bring on these past few adventures.

Killing Iron Man seems like the obvious way to write off Robert Downey Jr., and it would be a callback to the hero almost sacrificing his life to save the world in The Avengers. If Stark doesn't die, he must be somewhere far removed from his superhero life, as he hasn't been spotted in any Spider-Man: Far From Home footage just yet. Nick Fury stepping in to instruct the young hero may mean Stark's not doing the job anymore, so what happened?

Jeremy RennerOf all the main Avengers who won't be in another MCU movie following Avengers: Endgame, Hawkeye seems like the safest bet. Jeremy Renner's character hasn't been a major fixture in the MCU in general, and he was nowhere to be found throughout the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Renner has expressed interest in a standalone Hawkeye movie, but warned it'd have to happen sooner than later due to his increasing age.

Marvel doesn't seem to be interested in making a Hawkeye movie, however, so his last hurrah might be coming in Avengers: Endgame. If that's true, it could be as good of a send off as any, as the hero has donned the identity of Ronin and could be getting his most meaningful story arc to date. Hawkeye could die, but given that he's known to hang out with his family and skip out on adventures, he may just retire.

Tom HiddlestonTom Hiddleston's Loki died in Avengers: Infinity War, and while some have been skeptical on whether or not this death will stick, there's evidence that says it might. For starters, rumors surrounding Loki's upcoming Disney+ series have mentioned Hiddleston will not be the star of the series, and may have a lesser role as a narrator. There's also a rumor this tale follows a young Loki, which means the villain may be recast.

If that's the case, there's a good chance that Avengers: Endgame won't feature Loki showcasing how he managed to cheat death once again. Unless his cheating death involved reincarnating into a child, of course, which has happened before. In either case, Hiddleston can't play an age as low as Kid Loki, so his time in the MCU is likely up if these rumors hold true.

Mark RuffaloThe Hulk has been one of the most exciting MCU characters to date, so it's a shame Marvel hasn't gotten to utilize the character as much as it would've liked. Despite that, Mark Ruffalo revealed that Kevin Feige approached him about creating a story arc for the character that began in Thor: Ragnarok, and ends in Avengers: Endgame. That would seemingly be a good place to end the character's run, especially given Ruffalo's contract is up soon.

With that said, it's interesting to think of what the final part of Hulk's character arc may be. Thor: Ragnarok established Hulk as a separate person and Avengers: Infinity War showed Bruce stepping up to fight when Hulk was too afraid. Avengers: Endgame might see the merging of the two personalities into Professor Hulk, which would may keep the character alive, but keep Ruffalo off-screen. Hulk could also die, although we're hoping Marvel won't "smash" our hearts like that.

Peter DinklagePeter Dinklage appearing as Eitri was a surprise to many during Avengers: Infinity War, and it's likely he won't be seen beyond Avengers: Endgame if he's seen there at all. This is especially true if Chris Hemsworth is done as Thor, as Eitri's appearances are mostly tied to the God of Thunder's neck of the woods.

With that said, it would be great to see Peter Dinklage return to the MCU in another role, as he was brilliant in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Audiences pushed for him to play M.O.D.O.K. for a long time, although no concrete plans were ever made for that to happen. His appearance in the MCU as Eitri makes the odds of him appearing as anyone new far less likely, so perhaps fans should just be happy with what they got.

Benicio Del ToroBenicio Del Toro's The Collector may be a smash hit at theme parks, but he's a little more obscure in the world of the MCU. He made brief appearances in Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers: Infinity War, and hasn't been a huge player. Plus, it looked like Thanos killed him in Infinity War, despite Del Toro's statements that Collector survived the encounter.

Quite frankly, there doesn't seem to be a lot of reason why Marvel would choose to keep The Collector alive. For that reason, I'm more inclined to believe Thanos killed the character, and Benicio Del Toro was confused or just making a joke when he made the statement.

Chris HemsworthYes, it does appear that the MCU is losing its resident dream boat actor. What's worse is that it seems to be happening right as the MCU found a cool direction for Thor, which could be coming to an end in Avengers: Endgame. This is mainly due to his contract being up at the film's conclusion, meaning he might want to move on to other things that don't involve playing the God of Thunder.

With that said, director Taika Waititi could rope him back in to doing another Thor film. After all, Thor: Ragnarok was heralded as the best of the Thor franchise, so it wouldn't be surprising if Waititi could rope the hero back in for one final adventure just for the fun of it. Of course, Avengers: Endgame may make that impossible, so perhaps it's best to wait for the movie before speculating too much on Thor's next adventure.

Gwyneth PaltrowIf Robert Downey Jr. is out as Tony Stark in the MCU, it makes little sense to keep Gwyneth Paltrow involved as Pepper Potts. She will be missed in her portrayal as Tony's better half, so hopefully her exit in Avengers: Endgame isn't her violently weeping over Tony's grave. Pepper deserves a better ending than that, right?

Perhaps Iron Man doesn't bite the dust after all, and instead he and Pepper use his massive amount of money to retire and go somewhere where they'll never be bothered by anyone ever again. That doesn't seem realistic, but it is ideal for the Marvel fan not hoping to get their hearts ripped out seeing Marvel's power couple without their better half. Ugh, just thinking about it makes my stomach hurt.

Don CheadleMuch like how Pepper was tied to Tony, Don Cheadle's War Machine doesn't seem long for the MCU if Iron Man is out of the picture. A cameo appearance in Falcon and Winter Soldier's Disney+ series could possibly happen, but War Machine getting a standalone film or an invite to a future Marvel ensemble adventure doesn't seem likely.

Also, War Machine feels like the perfect hero who's relevant enough to kill off in Avengers: Endgame, but not so relevant that killing him has any massive implications. That's usually not a good spot to be in any film where characters are dying, so don't be surprised to see War Machine meet a violent end before Thanos is fully thwarted.

Chris EvansThis is the one most people expected to see. Sure, Chris Evans has danced back and forth on whether or not he's truly done as Captain America, but the fact is his contract is up and the character has already done so much. It feels right to give Steve Rogers a proper send off, and pass the mantle on to Falcon or Bucky to become the new Captain America in Phase 4.

With all of that said, Joe Russo has said that Captain America's job isn't done after Avengers: Endgame. Is it a fake out or are there really going to be more Captain America films on the way? That feels unlikely, but one can never truly predict everything Marvel has up its sleeve!

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters Friday, April 26, and all the world's questions about which actors are staying and leaving the MCU will probably be answered during that. How Geoff Johns Appears to Be Influencing The DCEU

Warner Bros. had ample room to stretch its legs at San Diego Comic-Con and the studio took full advantage by showing off the next big DC films. In addition to an appearance from Wonder Woman 1984, DC debuted the first trailers for both Aquaman and Shazam!, two movies that are, in part, embracing a lighter and more fun direction for the DCEU. Both of the trailers have been well received by fans, but comic book fans will notice that they have something in common: the work of Geoff Johns, which is a really good thing because Johns played a big hand in revitalizing these characters.

For those unaware, Geoff Johns is a comic book writer with a long history with DC, having written memorable stories for Green Lantern, Justice League, The Flash, and Superman to only name a small handful. He penned some of the biggest stories from the publisher over the last few decades. Johns developed a reputation for mining gold from B-list characters, something that can be seen on display in his comic series for Shazam and Aquaman, which are clear inspirations for their theatrical showcases.

Shazam and Aquaman, depending on who you ask, are not the coolest superheroes in the world. One has a reputation for being lame and ridiculous (riding dolphins didn't help) while mainstream audiences have barely heard of the other. The two faced a real uphill battle, but Johns understands the core values of DC characters and is able to draw that out in exciting ways while building new mythology around them. It seems like the movies are drawing plenty from Johns's work, which is great because these two had great stories under Johns.

After DC Comics rebooted their entire comic book universe with new continuity in the New 52, Johns played a huge part in shaping the aftermath. Of the many series he wrote, he spearheaded an Aquaman relaunch and a Shazam mini-series, both of which set out to embolden the characters and make them major players in the DC world moving forward.

In the case of Aquaman, Johns used the real world view that the hero is nothing to take seriously. In this series, Aquaman has to fight for recognition from a public that doesn't take him seriously, seeing him as nothing more than a joke. Yeah, Aquaman commands fish, but he's also a member of the Justice League and the king of the largest nation in the world. The guy deserves respect, and Johns addressed that by embracing the duality of the character as a man of both the sea and the land.

The Aquaman movie is making Aquaman cool in a different way with Jason Momoa, whiskey, and leather pants. All that is fine, but the movie also takes a lot from Geoff Johns' run. The plot follows Arthur Curry as he must come to terms with his rightful place as the king of Atlantis (a major theme at the beginning of Johns's run), confront his half-brother Orm, and smooth tensions between Atlantis and the surface world. Not only that, but the movie is also embracing the Seven Kingdoms, an idea that Johns created about how Atlantis is just one of six other undersea kingdoms. One of these kingdoms is the Trench, filled with man-eating fish monsters that reside deep below. They can be briefly seen in the movie trailer.

It says a lot that so many elements that Johns introduced are in the Aquaman movie, but the movie still follows its own path. Shazam!, meanwhile, takes a huge chunk of Johns' comic mini-series and brings it to the big screen. Based on the trailer, the movie seems to follow the basic plotline of Johns's run; Troubled orphan Billy Batson begins living with a new foster family, defends his new foster brother from bullies, escapes a pummeling on a subway car, and is magically gifted powers from a strange wizard. Shazam and Freddy Freeman goofing off and trying to abuse Billy's sudden adulthood (in the comics, they try to buy beer, but it looks like it'll be soda in the movie) is another memorable moment.

It's also been rumored that Shazam! will feature the Shazam Family, which is the result of Billy sharing his powers with his fosters brothers and sisters, giving them their own adult alter egos. Geoff Johns technically didn't create this concept, but he doubled down on it and introduced mostly new characters. Family has always been a big part of Shazam, and while the character is goofy and fun, he's got a nuggety center that Johns brought forward.

It's likely that Shazam! and Aquaman aren't direct adaptations of any one story, but Geoff Johns' work seems to have been used to help form the basis for what fans will see on screen. That's A-Okay in my book. Johns knows these characters like the back of is hand and the fact that the DCEU seems to be adapting more of his work indicates that they are trying to create fun, character-focused stories.
