Walt Disney World May Add A Wreck-It Ralph Attraction, Remove One Of Its Least Popular Ones

Wreck-It Ralph is about to return to the big screen, but it looks like he might also be making a big move into Disney Parks, replacing one of the least popular attractions currently running. A new rumor indicates that a new Wreck-It Ralph based attraction may be planned for the space in the Magic Kingdom currently housing Stitch's Great Escape, an attraction that has been reduced to a "seasonal" experience, because, seriously, nobody likes it.

This isn't the first time that rumors of a Wreck-It Ralph based attraction have popped up, as a couple years ago a rumor implied that a VR racing experience based around the Sugar Rush racing game was planned for the same space. However, since then Disney has indicated that it's not planning any VR attractions, leaving those to The Void, who may actually be working on a VR experience based on Ralph Breaks the Internet, set to hit theaters in November.

However, Walt Disney World News Today is reporting on a rumor that Walt Disney Imagineering is, in fact, still working, or perhaps working once again, on some sort of Ralph theme park experience to take over the Stitch's Great Escape space. There's no indication of what the attraction could encompass, beyond the fact that it likely won't be VR-based.

If true, this will be welcome news for a lot of Walt Disney World fans. Stitch's Great Escape is not exactly the most beloved attraction in the park. It consists of a circular room where the audience straps into chairs to view Stitch in captivity, when he "unexpectedly" escapes, cuts the power, and then proceeds to mess with the audience in the dark, via the use of directional sound effects, motion simulation built into the chair, and other tricks. There is little in this world less appealing then Stitch belching in your ear and then having the smell of a chili dog waft into a room you can't leave.

It's almost certain that something will be going in that space before long, while Stitch's Great Escape is currently a "seasonal" attraction, meaning it's only open during high traffic times, it hasn't been open since last holiday season ended. It seems that whatever may be planned for the future is still in a very early stage so nothing will be built any time soon.

Stitch's Great Escape itself took over the space from the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, which used the same basic attraction structure but included a much scarier alien creature, which was originally conceived to be based on the Alien film franchise. It was a generally better-received attraction but was actually viewed as too scary for young children, which eventually resulted in the ride being replaced by something more family friendly.

So far, Ralph Breaks the Internet is looking pretty good, and if it does as well as its predecessor there will be even more fans who will want to see Ralph in the park somewhere. With a major Walt Disney World anniversary on the horizon, perhaps we'll see the new attraction debut in 2021.

The Pitch For A Quiet Place Did Not Go Over Well With Almost Everyone Who Heard It

A Quiet Place has become one of the biggest movies of the year thanks to a completely original concept that is executed near perfectly. However, not everybody saw the film's potential originally. It turns out the premise was so unique that pretty much nobody really got the movie when it was presented to them. The producers behind the movie have recently spoken about the difficulties that came with pitching the idea to studios. As producer and co-writer Bryan Woods says, even those they expected would cut them a break just didn't seem to get it. According to Woods...

We would pitch it to studio executives that were fans of ours, producers that we had worked with, even close friends, and people would just look at us and their eyes would glaze over. They'd just be like, 'What are you guys talking about? A movie with no dialogue? I don't see how that's a movie. That doesn't sound very commercial. You should just move past it.

On paper, as the movie literally was at that point, it's understandable how a studio executive might not understand a movie like A Quiet Place. Even if your goal is to make "good movies" rather than simply make money, those good movies still have to make money, or eventually, you can't make good movies anymore. A movie with little or no dialogue sounds like something that wouldn't appeal to the mass market and thus would have trouble being financially successful.

Even the studio that eventually did produce A Quiet Place, Platinum Dunes, knew they were taking a risk with the movie. Co-founder of the studio Andrew Form told Slate that it wasn't simply the premise that the studio was taking a risk on. They were also putting a great deal of faith in John Krasinski. As writer, director, and star of the movie, everything was riding on him.

The movie was risky on every level; You start reading [the script] and go, 'Oh, there's no dialogue.' The idea was so original. And here we are coming to the studio with John: 'This is the guy we're betting on to star, write and direct this movie for us. And we're all in on him! You have to trust us. We're not going to let you down.'

Luckily, the faith was not misplaced. A Quiet Place has grossed over $300 million around the world on a reported budget of less than $20 million, making it not only one of the highest grossing films of the year, but also one of the most profitable. It's minimal use of dialogue, rather than pushing audiences away, has engaged them even more, and made many much more conscious of their movie theater behavior, which isn't a bad thing either. With a sequel reportedly in the early stages, A Quiet Place has transformed from risky venture to full-on franchise.

The story in the Dog's movies center on a pooch who finds his way back to his owner across a number lifetimes as different dogs. It will soon continue with A Dogs Journey, which will pick up with Dennis Quaids character, who is now a grandfather.

Since the film will follow a new generation of Baileys reincarnations, Dennis Quaid is one of the few threads that bind the pair of movies together and it sure showed on set when hed work with the puppers. When Iwe recently sat down with Quaid and Marg Helgenberger, who plays Ethans wife Hannah in the flick, she shared a bit of the actors claim to fame. Check it out in their words:

Marg: Dennis just knew how to work with dogs. The way he put food on his face to get the dogs to react or be on his shoulder on a certain spot.Dennis: You look like a dog whisperer when you do stuff like that.Marg: Yeah, you seem like a real trainer. I was impressed.Dennis: Yeah, well, I'm the one who was trained.

Ah yes, food! Thats definitely the ticket to get in with the dogs!! As Marg explained, Dennis would place some on his face to get the animal actors to react to him on camera or do specific tricks, and it looks like it worked. He of course has had some experience on the prior film, while she was stepping onto the saga for the first time with A Dogs Journey. The actress played Hannah for the sequel, replacing Peggy Lipton, who passed away a few days ago of colon cancer at the age of 72.

Dennis Quaid isnt only a skilled dog whisperer of sorts, hes a lover of mans best friend. In our interview, he elaborated about why theyve been an important element of his life. Heres what he said:

Ive always had dogs, all my life, and I need them around. They chew me out and look at me like: Whats the problem? They are always there for you, theyre your best friend, they dont judge you and theyre always ready to go.

Isnt that the truth! Dennis Quaid is certainly passionate about puppers and having them there to keep him in check is one of the many reasons why.
