Terry Crews Says He Turned Down Expendables 4 Because Of Threat From Producer

It's been four years since The Expendables 3 hits theaters, and while it was uncertain for a while if another movie was in the cards, The Expendables 4 was finally confirmed to be in the works earlier this year. Just like the previous Expendables movies, the next installment will see action stars both current and from yesteryear teaming up for explosive, blockbuster shenanigans. However, one star who will not be returning for The Expendables 4 is Terry Crews, as the actor stated he had been warned of "troubles" by one of the upcoming movie's producers if Crews did not withdraw a civil suit. When asked if he has a role in The Expendables 4, Crews responded:

No. Simply because this same producer is under his own ... investigation. Abusers protect abusers --- and this is one thing I had to decide, whether I was going to draw the line on. Am I going to be a part of this or am I gonna take a stand, and there are projects I had to turn down.

Terry Crews has been one of the most consistent voices in the #MeToo movement since it began late last year, with Crews talking about his experience being groped by a Hollywood agent at a party in 2016. Crews has since been filed a lawsuit against this agent, who has been identified as Adam Venit, and his talent company, William Morris Endeavor, for sexual assault. As Crews revealed while speaking in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee today (via Deadline) about the Sexual Assault Survivors' Bill of Rights, apparently Avi Lerner, the main producer on the Expendables series, had called Crews' manager and asked that he to drop the lawsuit. Crews opted not to reprise Hale Caesar for The Expendables 4.

Even though The Expendables 4 is definitely moving forward, there's little we know about what the fourth outing of this franchise holds in store. So far Sylvester Stallone is the only actor confirmed to be back, having lead the other movies as Barney Ross. However, it was reported last year that Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise Lee Christmas and Trench Hauser, respectively. Productions on The Expendables 4 is expected to begin early next year. As for Terry Crews, he recently appeared as Bedlam in Deadpool 2, and he's still playing Terry Jeffords in the TV series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was picked up by NBC days after Fox cancelled it back in May.

Vanessa Hudgens Is Doing Another Netflix Christmas Movie And This One Has Time Travel

While it's true that most people think of the Hallmark Channel when it comes time to binge brand new Christmas movies every year, Netflix has slowly been stepping things up in that warm-feeling inducing genre for the past few holiday seasons. Last year, in fact, the streamer brought us the Vanessa Hudgens (and Vanessa Hudgens) led The Princess Switch, which featured the Hudges playing a duchess and a baker from Chicago who realize they look identical and decide to switch places during the Christmas season. Well, it would seem that Hudgens and Netlfix enjoyed being in business together, because she's just boarded another holiday film for the company, The Knight Before Christmas. And, this time, there's time travel.

As if a pleasant Christmas movie where two beautiful people fall quickly in love weren't enough, The Knight Before Christmas will add in the oh-so-familiar magic component which is common to many holiday films. The movie will focus on, you guessed it, a brave English knight who is forced to seek out his true quest when a sorceress accidentally sends him to the modern day from their medieval era. In our time, he, of course, discovers that he's falling into deep romantic love with a kind high school science teacher, who just so happens to be disenchanted by the whole idea of falling in love.

I don't know about you, but to me this already sounds like a curl up with a cozy blanket and a warm (possibly spiked) beverage holiday movie home run. For real, can I add this to my queue right now?

Hudgens isn't content to just act in The Knight Before Christmas, either. According to Deadline she will also executive produce the movie, alongside Brad Krevoy (who also served as executive producer on The Princess Switch and has a resume filled with Christmas movies), Amanda Phillips Atkins, Lorenzo Nardini, Jimmy Townsend and Eric Jarboe. The feature will be directed by Monika Mitchell (Lifetime's The Christmas Contract), written by Cara Russell and will also star Josh Whitehouse (Poldark, the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel).

Aside from the fact that The Knight Before Christmas has some holiday movie pedigree working for it behind and in front of the camera, it's hard not to be excited about having yet another Netflix-based Christmas film to dive into in the holiday season ahead. And, any lover of these movies who also enjoys the fact that they frequently deal in magical coincidences / real life Santa Claus / other hints or outright evidence that the holidays are a special time of year, should be especially excited about the time travel aspect.

I can already see how some of this will play out. Our medieval hero will be shocked that Vanessa Hudgens' teacher is allowed to work and wasn't married off by the age of 13. He will be incredibly surprised by any building larger than four stories, flummoxed by cars, confused by cell phones and possibly daunted by the sheer amount of everything that is everywhere. But, and this will be a very important but, he'll be a steadfast believer in love and capable, even in all his modern day mystification, of leading our heroine to a place where she can let her guard down and fall into his hunky loving arms. The big question will be whether she goes back in time with him (bad idea) or he stays put in our time.

Seriously, you guys, if you're not convinced that Vanessa Hudgens, she of the High School Musical legacy, has made a perfect choice in deciding to tackle The Knight Before Christmas I'm convinced that your holiday season might just be a mostly joyless affair. While there's no debut date set for The Knight Before Christmas right now, it's set to begin filming this April and will likely be ready to stream on Netflix before you put your holiday decorations up.

Disneyland's A Bug's Land Changes Could Be A Great Opportunity For Cars Land

It has recently been revealed that some major changes are in store for Disney's California Adventure theme park, and while people are certainly excited for more Marvel heroes, there's another area that could benefit. Disney Parks recently confirmed the long-rumored addition of a new land dedicated to Marvel that will begin construction later this year in the park across from Disneyland. Unfortunately, part of that new land will exist in the place where a land dedicated to the Pixar film A Bug's Life currently exists. A Bug's Land is scheduled to be closed down this summer to make way for a new Marvel Land set to debut in 2020, but Disney should consider making an additional move, and use some of that space to increase the size of Cars Land.

The new Marvel Land will be built near the location of Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission - Breakout, which currently sits on the border between Hollywoodland and A Bug's Land. However, on the other side of A Bug's Land sits Disney's California Adventure's most recent addition, Cars Land. While nothing has been stated to indicate that there are any specific plans to make changes to the existing Cars land, Cars creative director Jay Ward recently tweeted that he is involved in some sort of "new stuff" for the area.

To be fair, that new stuff could be anything. It could be new merchandise. It could be new decorations that will be included in the upcoming Pixar Fest. There has been no indication that any significant changes to Cars Land are planned. However, if they were going to do something more substantial, like add additional attractions to the space, now would be the time to do it, as the closing of A Bug's Land, would make even a minor expansion as easy as it's going to get.

What's more, adding attractions to Cars Land would be a good idea. As exciting as it is to know that Marvel will have an increased presence in 2020, the loss of A Bug's Land is really unfortunate, especially to guests with really young children. A Bug's Land was the closest thing that Disney's California Adventure had to Fantasyland, an area with rides that could be enjoyed by almost everybody, even the smallest kids. There were no rides with height requirements that limited them to only older kids and adults. With a Bug's Land going away and getting replaced by rides that will certainly be geared toward an older crowd, the park as a whole will have little to offer the youngest Disney fans.

Two of the attractions in Cars Land, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters, have fairly minimal height requirements, making them accessible to younger kids, and Cars is already a popular brand for the younger set. It would be nice to see Disney try to replace one or two of the four rides that are being demolished with experiences they won't need to wait to enjoy.

Disneyland is a place for the whole family, but unless Disney Parks plans to add four rides suitable for toddlers to Marvel Land -- which is unlikely -- Disney's California Adventure is about to be a lot less fun for little kids, and that's not great for families. If you want to turn little kids into 40-year-old Disney obsessed nuts who can't wait to bring their own kids to the parks (not that I know any of those people) you want to get them to fall in love early.
