Looks Like Mark Hamill May Have Landed A Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

One of the hardest jobs in Hollywood has to be casting, figuring out exactly who would be right for a given role, and then trying to lock that person down and get them to commit. Or you could just ask on Twitter. That's what may have just happened live on social media in front of the world as a fan asked writer/director James Gunn to cast Mark Hamill in a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, for no other reason beyond the fact that it would be cool. Gunn seemed to think that, not only was this a good idea, but it would actually be fairly easy to consider, and Mark Hamill seems to be game.

Following Mark Hamill's statement that he would be interested, James Gunn simply says "let's do it." There's a bit of confusion regarding getting Hamill's contact information over to James Gunn because DM's are confusing, but it all appears to be on the level. Mark Hamill and James Gunn could actually be having a conversation right now about a potential role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. That sounds awesome. Thank god for social media.

Seeing Mark Hamill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be fantastic. James Gunn has made room for cameos for everybody from Nathan Fillion and David Hasselhoff to Troma Entertainment's Lloyd Kaufman in the past, so I'm sure there are going to be roles available like that for Hamill. Of course, with the movie at least two years away, the film is probably in an early enough stage that perhaps Hamill could take a more significant part. Mark Hamill for Adam Warlock in the MCU? Regardless of the size of the part, it would be great to see Hamill in Guardians Vol. 3. I think Josh Gad probably put it best when responding to the initial Twitter thread.

The only potential issue could be scheduling. There's a pretty good chance that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is eyeing a release date of May 1, 2020, and with Star Wars: Episode IX, coming out in December of the previous year, there's a decent chance filming could be happening on the two movies around the same time. This, of course, assumes Mark Hamill has a role in Episode IX, and while I'd say it's likely that he does, it probably won't be all that large, which could mean the scheduling could work out. Social media can be a pretty terrible place a lot of the time, but if this ends up happening it will make up for some of it.
