See Jason Momoa Surprise Aquaman Fans At An Early Screening

My man Aquaman just took over Times Square! Jason Momoa, director James Wan, and the Aquaman cast surprised lucky fans at a screening of the film in New York.

The movie officially opens December 21, but critics and certain fans have seen the movie early at premieres and screenings. So far, the reaction has been very positive. That said, director James Wan spent more than two years on this film, and he recently admitted he's nervous about the stiff competition at the box office this holiday season.

The cast and director were all smiles at this New York City screening, though, and it looks like one young fan probably got a classic "My Man!" from Jason Momoa himself:

As you can see, co-star Amber Heard (Mera) didn't wear the most striking outfit in the room, for a change. Instead, she got to pose with other costumed characters, along with costars Patrick Wilson (Orm/Ocean Master) and Willem Dafoe (Vulko).

In the photo below, you can see director James Wan at the mic, addressing the fans in the audience. Jason Momoa probably got tired of holding that trident. Then again, he may be used to it by now.

Aquaman tells the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry, and follows him on his journey to be both a king and a hero. The movie also stars Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the vengeful Black Manta; Nicole Kidman as Arthur's mom, Atlanna; Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando; and Temuera Morrison as Arthur's dad, Tom Curry. The final trailer for Aquaman was already released, but new still photos from the movie recently came out, giving better looks at characters like Nereus and Black Manta.

Box office projections for the PG-13 DCEU film are all over the map. Initial tracking was on the lower end, $40M-$60M, and then expectations rose to possibly over $100 million for the opening weekend. No pressure, though! We'll get an official tally for Aquaman when it opens here on Friday, December 21, which for many people is a very long weekend before Christmas. Here's what else is coming out in 2018, and ahead in 2019.
